Why vote for Chan Bryant?
Chan will use her years of experience as the Chief Deputy in the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office to provide continuity of leadership, organization and accountability.
With 20 years of Law Enforcement experience, including 13 years working in the Albemarle County Sheriff’s Office. In 2015 , she was promoted to Chief Deputy, tasked with running day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Some of her duties as Chief Deputy are to supervise employees, internal affairs, public relations and media releases, managing budgets and working with and presenting to Albemarle County leaders and the Board of Supervisors
As Chief Deputy, Chan is responsible for the hiring and training of deputies and staff. She established a “Career Development Program” to strengthen the recruiting, retention, and development of the deputies and to increase diversity in the hiring process. Chan is also commander of the 60 member reserve division and 100 member Search and Rescue Unit. Chan has also lead fundraising efforts to support office programs, uniforms and equipment for volunteer deputies, and community outreach programs.
Born and raised here, Chan is dedicated to serving her community. As Chief Deputy, Chan has helped to initiated several programs to foster a closer relationship between Sheriff’s Office deputies and the community. These programs include helping to provide for needy families throughout the community, and the “Lunch Buddies” program where deputies visit Albemarle County Elementary Schools and have lunch with the children.
